The installation of bathroom vanity usually requires drain pipe together with two water supply lines. The supply lines deliver fresh water to the faucet while the drain pipe removes dirty water from the sink When you install new vanity, getting the right position for the drain pipe usually is hard and causes many issues.
You commonly find that the drain pipe does not line up with the new vanity. Occasionally the drain is some inches in a different position than the old sink drain. The exit pipe from the wall can turn down, so you do not simply extend it straight.
How to Fit the Bathroom Vanity Drain Pipe
Depending on the vanity model, you maybe must redo the work inside of the wall.
If there is no space under the vanity for the P-trap, there are only two solutions. Either you cut the bottom part of the cabinet to let the trap pass through the bottom, or you cut the wall and move the fitting more upward. When the drain is too low, the best way to fix it besides raising it is cutting the cabinet bottom for the P-trap.
If you put the trap too high regarding the vent, it can become S-shaped and self-empty.
Drawers make the task even more cumbersome. If there is not enough place for the drain pipe, think about a vanity without drawers. Occasionally you must change the drawers to go around the tubes.
Remove a bit of the back part and add wooden supports to help them open flat around the drain.
Install the faucet in the countertop before setting it to the vanity. You do not need to bend over in the little cabinet to check if it fits. After setting the sink to the vanity, test the drain to ensure that everything works.
Silicone around the drain pipes ensures a watertight seal.
You usually measure and cut the tube in the right length, because it rarely matches the waste arm of the old. The best method is to arrange the tubes for short, simple links and enough slope to the drain. PVC is cheap, easy and legal.
In professional work you commonly use it in the toe-kicks under cabinets or behind them. If the drain pipes are slightly tilted and leak at the swivel joint, pipe dope on the bevel of the trap and all gaskets help where they touch other materials.
