💡Standby calculation tips

Use measured idle watts when possible. A plug-in meter can capture clock displays, network wake modes, sleep states, and chargers more accurately than a rating label.
Keep the active and standby split clean. If a device is used for 4 hours, count the remaining 20 hours as standby only when it stays plugged in and idle.

It’s tiny. And it’s easy to ignore. But it costs you money anyway.

That can go up into the hundreds in a smart home, where all those connected cameras, thermostats, speakers and lights is sucking up energy when not in use.

A lot of folks say they want to unplug their gadgets. But they’re afraid of losing data or hurting their electronics.
