Sofa Cover Size Chart

Picking the right size for sofa cover is hard. Wrong size causes many returns, because it is one of the main problems. It is a challenge to find a cover for a sofa, especially for IKEA.

Measure the furniture first, so that the cover fits perfectly. Take the width depth and height of the sofa.

How to Choose the Right Size Sofa Cover

Standard sizes of sofa covers are common. One-seater armchair fits for distance between ends of 90 to 140 cm, so around 35 to 55 inches. Two-seater sofas have width between 140 and 185 cm.

Four-seater sofas requre 235 to 300 cm or 92 to 118 inches. Some covers have three standards (one-), two- and three-seater, with 72 inches long, which covers the back flap, backrest and seat. Other brands offer four variants.

Key: choose size nearest to the width of the seat.

For sofa with high back above 100 cm, use one size bigger. For curved shapes, measure from the top or bottom part of the back. Take distance from the floor to the top of the section.

Cover 1, 2 inches shorter than the furniture helps air.

L-shaped and U-shaped sofas require several covers. Split the sofa in parts and measure every piece. For every section order its cover.

Between sections there is a gap, that allows you to tuck the cloth. Two-piece L-sofa requires size for section A and for B. Also corner sofas and those with a chaise require two covers. Chaise cover is bigger for the extended form.

Although slipcover sizes are usually in inches, note sofa measures in centimeters and inches for accuracy. Right size stops slipping of the cover. For a drapey look add some extra cm or inches to the measures.

If standards do not fit, choose a custom cover.

Stretch covers from thick fabric with elastic corners fit almost all sofas in minutes. They work for armchairs, corners, one-to four-seater sofas, sofa beds, cushions and chairs. Covers with elastic bands slip snugly above cushions, available in many sizes and colors.

Piece covers for sections stay in place much better than one-size-fits-all. Sofa forms and sizes are so various, so precise measurements are the most important step.
