Choosing the right Length for a Table Runner can seem difficult, but it comes down to some basic advice. Standard Length of a Table Runner ranges between 36 and 108 inches. The width of it usually falls between 10 and 15 inches.
The most common Table Runners that you find in stores, have Length of 72 to 108 inches. Although 70 inches are the most popular size, many Table Runners sit in the range of 50 to 70 inches.
How to Choose the Right Table Runner Length
Good starting point is the overhang. A traditional Table Runner should overhang the edges by around 6 to 10 inches on every side. Some prefer even 6 to 12 inches of overhang for better balance.
That extra Length well frames the centerpieces, while making sure that the edges do not touch the floor or the chairs. For formal events, at least 6 inches of overhang on every side is regular adivce.

Some bought Table Runners have only 55 inches, so for a long dining table, maybe two must be joined. Otherwise, simply center a shorter Table Runner on the table, without it hanging, for a quiet look. Also remember, if end chairs will be used, the overhang should not go past the first few inches.
