Election of the right size for Tablecloth can seem hard even so it simply comes down to some basic stages. First measure the length, width and height of your table. Those values form the base for finding how big a Tablecloth you must buy.
The key spot to grasp is the ‘fall’. It points to how much fabric hangs past the edge of the table. Typical fall reaches around 8 inches on every side.
How to Choose the Right Tablecloth Size
With such lengths the material covers the table fine and nicely. For everyday use a fall of 6 to 8 inches works well. If you want something more formal, try 10 to 12 inches or even bigger.
Formal dining tabels look great with 15-inch fall. Simply make sure that the chairs are pushed in when you measure the desired fall.
The math itself is very easy. Take the measures of your table and add the fall twice, once for every side. For instance, if the table measures 42 inches by width and 72 inches by length, and you want a 9-inch fold, then add 18 inches to each.
So you get 60 by 90 inches. Here is the size of Tablecloth that you search. A quick tip: add 12 to 16 inches too the length and width of the table.
Or simply said, the Tablecloth should pass the table by around 2 feet in both directions.
The rule of size works the same for square and rectangular tables. Square Tablecloth sizes usually range between 54 and 70 inches. Oval versions are similar to rectangular in measures, but with rounded edges.
Round tables that grow by adding leaves, require oval cloths instead.
For weddings and events there are some suggested sizes. A 6-foot rectangular table normally has 72 inches length and 30 inches width. A Tablecloth of 90 by 132 inches works for such table with full fall all around.
54 by 96 inch cloths give around 12-inch fold, while 60 by 102 inch versions hang halfway down. At 60-inch round tables, a 120-inch Tablecloth is the good choice for reaching to the floor. When the table is 60 inches wide, the right size must be 120 inches, to touch the floor.
Online calculators for Tablecloth sizes also are useful. They find precise sizes for square, rectangular, round or oval tables, and consider different falls. When the ideal size is not available, simply choose a bit bigger.
Table runners should not be longer than the main Tablecloth. Placemats commonly overlap at least partly with the runner. The amount ofoverlap depends on the width of the table, of the runner and of the size of the placemats.
