Wallpaper helps to add style and character to any room. Various methods exist for setting it to the wall for instance by means of glue directly on the surface or by means of sticky strips with paper. Both methods work, although they require a bit different steps.
For sticking the wallpaper, one puts first a thick layer of glue on the back of the material. Start work from the center straight to the edges. Later gentle press the taken part together with the sticky parts and leave it rest for around three minutes.
How to Hang Wallpaper
Avoid folding the wallpaper. One calls that stage booking. For thick paper or special non-sticky types like cork, fabric or fleece, clear heavy pre-mixed glue solution works best, compared to more lightweight glue.
Preparation of the wall is important too. Sand or scratch down high places and old paint flows. Lay filler paste in any holes or low spots and sand it flat.
Later prime the surface before you apply the wallpaper. For wallpaper on painted wall also some preparations are needed. Sanding and use of primer helps to reach good grip and smooth result.
If proper primer was not applied before teh installation, later removing the wallpaper can injure the drywall below.
Every roll of wallpaper includes instructions on the label. They mention soaking times for the glue, the size of the pattern repeat and the set number. All rolls need to have the same set number, otherwise it is possible to note color differences.
Wallpaper with casual match most easily installs, because the strips always line up when one lays them together. For drop-match and direct match images you need close cutting to fix the designs, and one should order extra material too avoid waste. Every bit set to the wall is called a drop.
When the wallpaper already is up, one uses a big smooth tool to push out all air bubbles and extra glue. Wipe excess with a lightweight damp cloth during the work progress. Work from the same side, drawing down and out with every move, which helps to reach a smooth finish.
Using a knife with a dull blade often causes tears. Thicker vinyl wallpaper handles better, but it sometimes looks a bitsad after drying.
Expert wallpaper installation is key for great quality. A professional knows how to prepare the walls, what glue type to choose and owns all proper tools. However the costs for installation can be high.
For one small powder room one cited almost eighty dollars for five rolls. Peel and stick wallpapers form an option, especially for shorter spaces in a house where too lasting setting does not matter. Friendly help during installation also helps, because arranging everything up alone can be difficult.
